RUMOR: New Monorails to include Augmented Reality windows?

On the most recent episode of The Disney Dish with Jim Hill and Len Testa the hosts report that they have been told by an insider that the new monorails will include windows that use augmented reality and projection mapping to change what you see when looking out. This rumor adds even more intrigue to the rumored monorail system. Disney hasn’t even announced the purchase of a new monorail fleet, but more and more information is coming out that this is a done deal. This new bit of info could make this even more exciting!

With this new technology, Disney could change what guests see when they are pulling into the Magic Kingdom, Grand Floridian, Polynesian, and Contemporary. One idea that comes to my mind is seeing the characters waving to you as the monorail pulls into the platform. Len Testa described an example of pulling into Epcot with a view of Spaceship Earth. Except, in this view of Spaceship Earth you see the Deat Star with X-Wings flying around it.

This technology is supposed to be so advanced that Testa says it could detect the weather in the background and include it in the augmented reality that you see in the window.

Right now this is a rumor on top of another rumor. Let’s hope for the best!
